Central Kentucky Region Solo School
Please join CKR on Sunday, April 3, 2011, at the Training Pad on Old Frankfort Pike to learn more about autocrossing, including the opportunity to practice driving with an instructor. The purpose of the school is to teach people who want to learn more about autocrossing, both the driving part and the working part. The school is limited to 30 participants. There is an entry fee of $40.
Driving instructors will include National Champion Laura Harbour, Solo Co-Chair Mark Mays, Driver Extraordinaire Andy Buck and Long-Time CKR Member George Schweikle. Participants will have a driving heat, then spend another heat learning about the various worker positions, including corner workers, trailer workers, grid workers, starter, waiver workers, etc. We will have two driving/working heats in the morning , then a break for lunch with two more driving/working heats in the afternoon. So each participant will have the chance to drive a morning and afternoon heat and two heats to learn more about the worker positions.
If anyone is interested, course designer Mark Mays will have a brief course building lesson while setting up the course.
The school will start with registration at 8:30 a.m. Participants’ cars will go through a safety inspection (known as tech) between 9 and 9:45 a.m. An overview and course walk will start at 9:45 and the first car will start around 10:30 a.m.
