ATTENTION CKR MEMBERS!!!

 

The Cincinnati Region SCCA will host a big weekend of fun, May 15-17, 2009, at the new Bluegrass Motorsports Park in northern Kentucky. The Cincy folks have asked CKR to help and participate in what is sure to be an incredibly fun weekend, where we will finally get to try out our new "Home" track!!! It gives CKR a great opportunity to learn about the events that will be possible at the new track.

The first two days will be in "PDX" format. This is basically like a "lapping day", no competition involved, just well instructed, high performance driving in a controlled environment and laid back atmosphere. This is a perfect opportunity for novices to get their feet wet on a road course and practice their driving talents at high speed. No specially prepped cars are necessary, just something very roadworthy and maintained, similar to autocross prep, with a bigger emphasis on safety items.

On the Sunday after the PDX's, the format will switch to a competitive, "Club Trials" type of SCCA event, where participants will run timed laps around the track. Other cars will still be on the track with you, but you're competing against the clock.  Only drivers with more on-track experience will be permitted, but for those of you novices who just have to be there, there will be plenty to help out with!

2009 will be a break-out year for CKR to get more involved in the road racing side of motorsports and the SCCA. This, and the continuation of our successful autocross program are the future of our region! We all need to step up and get involved in an exciting transition that will lead us into greater opportunities and excitement for our club!
