| January 15th, 2006 | Time: 12:30pm Location: Happy Dragon Restaurant "Cold Rain and Snow Rally" The PCA Bluegrass Region's second TSD rally is set for Sunday, January 15th, weather permitting. The start is at the Happy Dragon Restaurant on Newtown Pike near Citation Blvd. To avoid a possible Sunday lunch crowd, we'll meet in the side parking lot in front of Belcan Staffing Services, near Sugar Maple Dr. Registration is from 12:30 to 1:00. Drivers' meeting is at 1:00 and the first car starts at 1:31. The entire rally should take about 2.5 hours, not counting the scoring/bragging/commiserating gathering at the end. The entry fee is $5 per car. Entrants will be covered by PCA insurance. This rally, despite the name, will NOT be run on a sub-freezing, wet, or icy day. I'll be watching the weather, and will send out an email to all registered participants the evening of January 12th with go/no go information. All teams need to send me your names and email addresses in advance to make sure you get notified. You’re welcome to show up to register at the rally but you take the risk of being the only ones there if I postpone it. Rain/snow/ice date is Saturday January 28th. Depending on the entries, I may or may not put novices in their own class. When you sign up please tell me how many rallies the driver and navigator each have participated in. This rally is similar to others you may have run in the area, with no tricks or traps, and with fairly straight-forward directions. What's a TSD rally? It's a peaceful drive in the country, following route instructions which you'll be given at the drivers' meeting. Each team needs a driver and a navigator, and the goal is to drive exactly at the speeds listed in the instructions, to arrive at randomly-placed checkpoints on time. You'll receive a penalty for every fraction of a minute you're early or late. Any car (or truck or SUV) can run; Porsches or other sports cars don't have an advantage in this sort of competition. You can take the timing as seriously or as casually as you like. Don’t hibernate all winter; come out and drive!
